Chasing breakfast
I stood one morning near the Bathhouse Cultural Center at White Rock Lake as this northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) nearly ran me down in pursuit of breakfast. I must say the bird didn’t go hungry that morning; neither did it care much about me standing in the middle of its feeding ground since it ran circles around me—literally—and several times passed within arm’s length without a second glance.
